it's the day i can get my body adjusted (literally hahahaha oh you don't know) and hangout with a favourite friend ^~^ usually i'll be home by evening, then either have dinner with my grandma in the living room while watching “夜市人生” with her; or wait for my dad till later if i feel like eating steak or teochew porridge or sliced fish soup or yong tau foo or something else rather than home dinner. I really enjoy such moments; nothing beats staying home with your family watching tv or just..being together. do you know, these family members you have right now won't be able to be there with you throughout your entire life? and your parents, grandparents, this family they have right now is kinda their..."rest of their lives" already. do you know what I mean.
anyway, nellyn and i had been thinking of eating some thai food, and coincidentally, my colleague just randomly introduced a thai food restaurant to me just yesterday. wheee. and so we went! it's called 'First Thai Food', a small shop house located on Purvis Street. it's walking distance from Bugis mrt, just 2 streets beside NLB. we beat the rain (lol okay the rain wasn't heavy at all, our umbrellas just sucked and were attacked by the wind several times haha ok anyway.) and found the plaaace~~ it was surprisingly uncrowded (because almost all reviews said there'll be a long wait for a table, and then for your food to be served), probably because we were quite early and it was raining, so yay!, we were served quickly and could eat in some quiet peace hehe.
this glass of fruit punch........... so...... bloody swwweeeeeeeeettttt. but well, if you kept stirring at a constant speed and drink it at the same time, oh then it's just right.
Tom Yum soup with chicken chunks. no, there are no visible chicken chunks from the photo. if you can eat seafood, i'd suggest you order the seafood soup. there was just too much chicken meat going around. sian i should have taken the seafood!!! bleh nvm! oh yes, but the soup tastes goooood. i'm not sure but i think authentic tom yum soup should have this colour? instead of the red hot kind? oh but then again i have no idea too hahaha i am no thai food expert. this was just pretty good though.
stir-fry kailan with mushroom and garlic. we concluded that maybe they had a free supply of salt, and was particularly excited to use them for this dish. but it tasted good too la, there's practically nothing sucky for chinese vegetables stir-fried in garlic. always tastes good.
oooh fried chiiiiiiicken winggggssss. lol this photo makes me giddy cos it's so awkwardly taken HAHA. anyway. ya this was quite shiok hehe.
crabmeat fried rice! it was good enough. a little too oily though. but food cooked with more oil always tastes better. it is true. think about it hahaha.
so we ordered all these dishes and the bill came up to $44 HAHA. i think it's quite pricey, considering the fact that the place isn't some air-conditioned, finely decorated restaurant with table cloths and at least, serviettes, with uniformed waiters and waitresses taking your order (just a couple of PRC women dressed in tshirts with odd cartoon prints or random english words and flip flops), and has free refillable iced water upon request. okay....... there ain't the "extra charges" to include when we calculated the amount, tsk but then again the "nett price" seems slightly pricey even if compared with a price that has all the extra charges. okay lor. but we have decided that we will eat there again. HAHA.

we wanted to watch 'the lucky one', but ended up at SAM instead hahaha. an impromptu visit to the museum, exploited our student card and were given free admission, so, ta-da!
frankly ah, i was quite bored throughout the visit hahahahaha. i know, i'm sorry to the artists....... i know i lack the patience to stand in front of your art piece and concentrate hard enough to appreciate and understand it. but you know, i think if you are going to appreciate and/or understand a certain art piece, there's not much concentration to do. i think that connection with the art should come like a blink; like the moment you read it or see it, you feel it. so i did get a bit of feelings going on though!!
the museum was featuring the works of Lee Wen, a Singaporean artist and his erm, peculiar artworks through so many different forms of expressions, but mainly, it is the "Journey of a yellow man". i was thinking that he has this freaky odd sense of contemporary art. and he has this very warped thinking, so his performances, works, are all in this... weird fashion, that would either leave you thinking he's crazy, or you can be so freaked out by him. hahahaha i was a bit of the latter.

"I've used the yellow man image in various drawings and paintings. This time I was manifesting it by using my body as an element in sculpture, by painting myself yellow and appearing in performance as the yellow man. I improvised with 2 red chains of 3 meters in length each. The colors were esthetically contrasting and they soon took on symbolic values as well.
Yellow pigment on my yellow skin was an emphasis on my ethnicity. While living in London and meeting many Chinese people from different countries and cultural backgrounds, I found that many of my characteristics and attitudes were uniquely Singaporean. Therefore I wanted to elevate the symbolism of yellow to that of the color of the sun or that of gold. If symbols were still necessary. In art today, let them be of universal appeal, going beyond ethnicity. The sun and gold have often had associations with energy, nobility and spirituality. My wish was to perhaps give the hope that man can manifest these qualities.
The chains gave the 'impression of social bondage, constraints and restrictions on the freedom of 'individuality, movement, thought, actions, growth and behavior. At the same time they were strongly linked together giving direction, continuity and security. The red color implied a sense of urgency, danger, and a sign for alertness and perhaps even blood-ties.
During the performance the improvisation showed my reactions to these qualities of the chains. I needed them to give me security, comfort and direction. Yet I wanted to be free from them for by attaching myself to them I got entangled, tied down and restricted. The performance ended when I lined them up into a path and lighted up pieces of solid fuel between them forming a row of fire or light. The light or fire formed a circle at the end of the path. I lay 'inside the circle and revolved 'in it. The fire alluded to truth and revolution for I believe that to be free we must go through a human revolution in order to manifest a golden nature. "I got to understand his performance a little better, and yes, he is indeed quite remarkable.

we left the place and walked all the way to suntec city thereafter, wanted some starbucks but ended up at tcc because irritating cool kids just loooooove to show their faces at such cool places to study, because it is just so cool. anyway, we also tried to be atas (hahahah) having an afternoon tea at tcc, where i ended up requesting, then filling up a feedback form to leave a kind comment on the poor working attitude and unprofessional-ism those girls were giving to all customers basically. BECAUSE, you do not huddle in front and behind the counter pinching on mcnuggets, letting everyone hear that you have gotten these free mcnuggets, AND DONT THINK I DID NOT SEE, that one of you who has just finished one nugget, used that same hands to prepare the drinks for serving without washing them. EWWW i do not appreciate oily finger prints on my glass??? okay it wasn't my order but then again!! i do not think anyone would want that to happen to their drinks. to the glass of their drinks.
excuse me?????????????????????????
